You’ll be happy to know that Kuala Lumpur offers some of the best value tourist SIM cards in the world

We’ve all been there, you’re super excited about your holiday thinking about what to pack, the itinerary, that famous restaurant that you MUST visit… and then you arrive at your destination, with a big smile on your face as you leave the aeroplane… reach into your pocket for your phone and then…

BAM… it suddenly dawns on you… should you risk turning off aeroplane mode? What about those roaming charges…

And let’s be honest, searching for ‘The best Kuala Lumpur Tourist SIM card’ without any data isn’t fun. The airport WiFi requires an IT degree just to log on… and when you do finally get on, it’s painfully slow.

But don’t worry, there’s a simple & easy solution to getting the best value tourist SIM pre-ordered before you arrive in Kuala Lumpur.

How does 15GB of 4G high-speed data for only RM23 sound? ($5.50 | £4.50 )

I’ll explain exactly how to get this great deal and the money-saving hack that I use to get great SIM deals. You can even follow this guide once you’ve already landed in Kuala Lumpur.

And if you’re thinking you can just rock up and get the same great deals, in our experience, you can’t. Turn up without this quick 3 minutes prep and you’re likely to get a lot less data for the same price.

And best of all, in this guide, we use Klook to pre-order one of Kuala Lumpur’s Best-Value Tourist SIM cards.

Buying on Klook is easy and simple, it’s exactly what I did on my recent visit when I used it to see Kuala Lumpur Tower & Sky Box (totally recommended).

Top Tip: If you’re thinking of using the KLIA Expres Train, you can save big here with Klook as well.

To make things even easier, you can pre-order and pick up the SIM card from the airport terminal KLIA2 on your arrival.

Bonus Tip: You can hotspot all of your gadgets from one SIM card’s connection. So no need to buy more than one if you’re travelling with family or friends.

Where To Buy A Tourist SIM Card At KLIA2?

The other option you have is to buy your SIM card at Kuala Lumpur airport when you land. This is also super simple though you won’t get the same great deal that you do online.

Once you get off the plane, before security you’ll find 3 or 4 different mobile phone providers. This is where you can buy your SIM card.

The benefit of doing it before you leave security is that they have much better deals than in arrivals. So it’s worth taking the time to read through their deals.

The price plans are in English plus the staff can answer any questions fluently.

If you do forget to buy before security you can still get a great deal and buy your SIM card on Klook. The voucher will arrive instantly and you’ll be able to use it right away.

I first went to Kuala Lumpur in 2016 and made this useful video about SIM cards in Kuala Lumpur airport. Although it was a few years ago it gives you an idea of what it’s like to buy before security.

Now you’ve got your SIM card, find out the best way to get from Kuala Lumpur airport to Kuala Lumpur city.
